Canterbury

Canterbury lies on the eastern side of the South Island, where the Canterbury Plains stretch inland to the Southern Alps. The 'nor-wester' weather pattern is unique to the area, where it creates a dry, hot, sunny day, where other parts of the country results in rain.

Hanmer Springs

About 1 ½ hours north of Christchurch is Hanmer Springs. Hanmer Springs has thermal pools and spa's that you can relax in. Also in Hanmer Srings you can experience Bungy Jumping off the Waiau Ferry bridge and cruise in a jet boat along Waiau river. I did all this during the Easter weekend in 2005, while attending the Scouting NZ Rover Moot in the region.

Christchurch

Christchurch is my home town, where I was born and this is where I lived for the first seven years of my life. I regularly go back to Christchurch, when I am down in this part of the country.
